First Appointment
Outside of an emergency, your first appointment with Dr. Bloom will be a unique experience. Before looking in your mouth, Dr. Bloom will sit down with you to find out your concerns and goals for your teeth, mouth and smile. Everyone is different and has unique circumstances, temperaments and objectives. My goal is to work with you as a team to reach your goals and give you optimal oral health. After talking with you, a comprehensive evaluation is done with your help and input. This is a more thorough examination than the more cursory check-ups you may have come to expect.
Dr. Bloom will evaluate your jaw joints (TMJ's), chewing muscles and how your teeth come together against each other.
Your gums and other soft tissue parts of your mouth will be looked at for signs of diseases, oral cancer and injury.
Each tooth will be checked for health and the condition of any existing restorations (fillings, crown bonding etc.) will be evaluated in the process.
If you have expressed any concern or desire about the way your teeth look, as esthetic evaluation will be included.
Impressions of your teeth will be made and put on a special bite simulator (articulator) to check your bite and a complete set of close-up photographs of your teeth and face will be made.
During the entire process, Dr. Bloom and you will be talking about what you are discovering. He will be actively listening to your questions and concerns.
After the exam, Dr. Bloom will take time to study the information and form a thoughtful plan that addresses your goals. You will be invited to schedule a subsequent consultation to discuss the findings and how to best proceed with treatment that suits your circumstances, temperament and objectives.
